The Originals Recap & Review - For the Next Millennium

*Spoiler Alert*
Do not read this if you have not seen Season 3 Episode 1 of The Originals.

Your favorite family is back...

After Dahlia was vanquished at the end of season 2, the only villains challenging the remaining Mikealsons are each other. As usual, Klaus seems to be the main issue of conflict between the family and the rift between he and Elijah seems to grow larger by the second. We do, however, get to see all of the Mikealson siblings together (sans Freya) at the beginning of the episode which began with a flashback. This flashback, spread throughout the entirety of the episode, introduces what the conflict of season 3 will be: sire lines.

Our new antagonist, Lucian, is an age old vampire and "drinking buddy" of Klaus's, who comes to town warning of friction between the three sire lines: Klaus's, Rebekah's, and Elijah's. The flashback tells the story of how Klaus and Lucian met, but doesn't fully elaborate on the other sire lines besides some clips of an unknown girl.

In the Bayou, Haley is dealing with the wolf curse with Elijah's help and a team of gunmen have been trapping and killing the wolves that live in the bayou. Elijah, of course kills them and all is well - for now. When Hayley transforms into a human on the next full moon, she is being held captive by Davina, who has been threatened by her people and needs Hayley to do something for her.

Cammile, poor Cammile, is continually caught up in vampire business that she doesn't want to be a part of. Although I ship Cammi and Klaus, I agree with Cammi when she says he can't just trespass into her home. Not only does she have to deal with Klaus, but is an unknown serial killer slitting the mouths of innocent humans and she is asked to help with the case. At the end of the episode it is reveal that the killer is Lucian, which was no surprise.

Overall this was a good episode. I wish this season would have started off with more of a bang, however I really liked that all of the siblings were included in the flashback. I also kind of like Lucian, who reminds me of a slightly less sadistic Kai Parker, whom I really liked as a villain. After my trip to Georgia to see where they film this (link here if you haven't read it yet), I really appreciated getting to watch how they looked after being filmed in those locations.

I am super excited for the rest of season 3! Comment what you thought of the episode or what you think will happen next!
