Day 1

After a long drive into Atlanta and a good nights sleep, it was time for the fun to begin! My mom and I planned to start the day with a Big Zombie Tour by Atlanta Movie Tours. Our tour guide was good and had previously worked as a zombie for the show.

Our first stop played a part in many episodes of season 1, including the rooftop sequences and Rick's ride into the city. It was also used in Divergent.

We hopped onto the official Atlanta Movie Tours bus, which would escort us around the city to take a peek at a few more locations. Included were:

Terminus

The Goat Farm - Now an Arts Center, this area is the perfect filming location for movies like Cathching Fire, and of course the Walking Dead. I suggest you check it out even if you don't watch the Walking Dead because the photo ops are amazing. (There are more pics on my instagram)

Yes, they used ALOT of CG here!

We visited many different locations from the Walking Dead, I only included my favorites! If you want to see more, you will just have to go on the tour! Trust me, it's worth it! Here are group pictures courtesy of the tour:

The tour didn't cover EVERY Walking Dead location in Atlanta, (you can find all locations on this map), but Atlanta traffic is a nightmare, so we decided to head to our next location: Senoia, GA (aka Woodbury)!

We ate a delicious lunch at the Walking Dead Cafe, and enjoyed looking around the museum (aka Woodbury Shoppe).

Alexandria and Woodbury are neighbors. Literally! Standing on the train tracks, if you look one way you can see Alexandria and in the other direction you can see Woodbury! Sadly, there is no filming taking place this time of year, however security around the Alexandrian walls is super crazy these were the closest shots I could get:

We had lots of time before check-in at our B&B, so we went and explored. We found the "Pudding" House, and we even found Rick!

(JK! That is not Rick, but it is a cool dude that looks just like him from The Georgia Mercantile Tours!)

We concluded the day with a stay at the beautiful and historic Veranda, a Bed & Breakfast right in the middle of Senoia.

The trip was on a roll so far and we were not even close to done! If you want to read more click here!

Day 3

The last day...

(This is a picture of Lori taken at Callaway Gardens, which we visited after we went to all of the Walking Dead Locations.)

We had one last very important location to visit before our departure. If you have seen the most recent episodes of the Walking Dead, you will recognize this structure immediately:

The Savior's Camp

Ironically enough, this location is actually in the real Woodbury, GA, not Senoia, GA.

This concludes my Walking Dead Roadtrip! Sadly I did not visit all of the locations, but I am very lucky to have gotten to see the ones I did!

Day 2

If you missed the adventures of Day 1, Click Here! If not, you already know that I am currently in the town of Senoia, GA (aka Woodbury). My mom and I have a lot planned, and started our morning with a delicious breakfast courtesy of the Veranda Bed and Breakfast.

We had a tour at 2:30pm, giving us tons of free time to do some location "scouting" on our own (We actually just used this awesome map). We went to the town of Grantville, where they shot the "Clear" episode starring Morgan.

We also visited the location of Steve's Pharmacy and Hershel's Bar:

Our finger puppets, Hershel (left) and Lori (right) were "dying", (pun intended) for coffee. So we headed back to the Walking Dead Cafe for some Beth Lattes.

It was finally time for the Big Zombie Tour 2,  and let me tell you it was soooo worth the money. If you are reading: ATL Movie Tours - Great job! Our tour guide, Michael Jaegers, who has been a Walker tons of times was super knowledgeable and had a bunch of cool inside details on the show! I had so much fun and the best part was that the guides had special keys to get us into secret locations. To find out what they are, you'll just have to go on the tour yourself! Here are some of my favorite locations that we visited:

The Arena

The Mill - Recognizable from the opening credits

The Mill - Where Daryl kills Merle

I also won a really cool zombie hunting permit window decal during a game of trivia on the bus, which can be purchased at the Woodbury Shoppe in Senoia, along with other cool merchandise!

We also got a shot of crook road, which has appeared in many episodes:

(Top two are mine, bottom two are Netflix screenshots)

I would totally recommend taking the tour next time you are in Georgia, it is worth the time and money! It is also a great way to end the day!

For the second time in my life, I have gone to Georgia to see the filming location of one of my favorite shows, The Walking Dead. If you are wondering about my first visit click here.

Over the course of 3 days (5 Days of Vacation total) I was able to visit locations taken right from the screen! To be honest, there are so many run-down places in Georgia you could take a picture anywhere and it would look like you just stepped into the zombie apocalypse.

I am splitting this post into individual days, talking about locations, to food, all documented in photos! If you want some more behind the scenes pics you can visit my instagram here. I am excited to share my experience with you! Stay posted!
